Floraneo is an independent botany-learning app, developed and operated by a sole publisher. If you have any question about your personal data, you can write to info@floraneo.com.
Most of the app — the lessons, the plant library, the practice sessions — works without any account. Your progress is then stored only on your device, in your browser’s local storage, and is never sent to a server in a form that personally identifies you. Creating an account is optional and is only used to get your progress back on another device.
An anonymous identifier (randomly generated, with no link to your identity) is stored on your device and associated with aggregated usage statistics (lesson started/completed, answer to an exercise, country and device type technically inferred from your request) that let us know whether the app is genuinely useful — never for advertising purposes. All of these statistics are processed solely by our own servers, without going through a third-party audience-measurement tool (no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel). If the app runs into a bug, a technical report (error message, page concerned, that same anonymous identifier) is recorded so that we can fix it; these reports are kept for 14 days and then deleted.
First name, email address and password (the password is handled directly by our authentication provider, Supabase — we neither see it nor store it ourselves in clear text). Your progress (lessons, review rounds, mastered plants) is then synced to our servers so that it is available on your different devices.
Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. Floraneo never sees or stores your bank card number — we only receive a subscription identifier so that we know your account is Premium.
If you submit a photo, report a problem on a plant profile, or suggest a new plant, the information you provide on that occasion (for example a name to credit for a photo) is kept in order to process your contribution — these contributions are never linked to your account, even if you are logged in when you send them.
If you create a shared practice mode, its title, its description and your first name are visible to all visitors of the app.
Only to: run the app, save and sync your progress if you have an account, process Premium payments, moderate contributions (photos, reports), and measure in an aggregated and anonymous way whether the app is useful so that we can improve it. Your data is never sold or shared for advertising purposes.
Only the technical providers needed to run the service, each of them accessing only what it needs for its task: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (photo hosting), and Vercel (website hosting). None of these providers is allowed to reuse your data for its own purposes; in particular, no third-party audience-measurement tool is used — our usage statistics are processed solely by our own servers. Stripe keeps billing information beyond the deletion of your account, for the period required by legal accounting obligations.
For as long as your account exists. You can delete it at any time from Profile → Settings → “Delete my account”: your progress, your completed lessons, your review lists and your subscription are deleted immediately and permanently, both on this device and on our servers. The reports and suggestions you may have sent are not linked to your account (they are anonymous from the moment they are sent); deleting your account only erases the list you kept of them on this device.
The anonymous identifier of a visitor without an account is never linked to an identity. If you had an account and you delete it, the statistics already associated with your anonymous identifier are not erased individually but are disassociated from your account (they remain, as for any anonymous visitor, used only in aggregated form).
Under the GDPR (RGPD), you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data. The right to erasure is self-service in the app’s settings (see above). For any other request (access, rectification, or a question), write to info@floraneo.com.
Floraneo does not use any advertising cookies or any cross-site tracking cookies. An anonymous identifier, stored locally on your device and never shared with a third party, is used to measure the site’s audience for strictly internal purposes (e.g. lessons started, days returned) — it does not allow you to be tracked outside Floraneo. Our host (Vercel) also measures page views anonymously and without cookies. The rest of the local storage is used for strictly necessary purposes: keeping your progress and — if you are logged in — your session.
All communications with the app are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to the database is restricted to the operations strictly necessary for the service to work.
This policy may change as the app evolves; the date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
