Fountain butterfly bush
Buddleja alternifolia Maxim.
Also known as: Alternate-leaved butterfly bush
Family: Scrophulariaceae
❓ How do you recognise this plant?
Unlike most butterfly bushes, whose leaves are arranged in opposite pairs, the fountain butterfly bush gets its name from its leaves arranged one by one along the stem. As their names suggest, the difference shows on the stem: leaves opposite (two by two, facing each other) in the common butterfly bush, alternate (one by one, staggered) in the fountain butterfly bush.
